Description
This is a complete gestation sac containing a 12 mm. foetus. There is blood clot at one pole of the
sac, while placental tissue can be recognised at the other.
History
This woman, aged 27, was admitted to hospital with vaginal bleeding of some hours'
duration. The uterus was enlarged to 8 weeks; an intrauterine device was present. The products of
conception were evacuated.
